Restoring a Community Landmark
Ellsworth School Building is a Georgian Revival school building in South Windsor, Connecticut, distinguished by its prominent columned portico, classical pediment, and red brick façade. The building serves the South Windsor Public School System and stands as an architectural centerpiece of the community.
The restoration of the wood trim, fascia, columns, and historic windows was the main scope of the work at Ellsworth School Building. Extensive damage to most of the original wood had developed over years of exposure, requiring careful restoration by Cenaxo craftsmen using historically appropriate methods and materials.
The windows were severely damaged and required comprehensive wood restoration, glass replacement with period glass, glazing, and painting. Cenaxo craftsmen applied a three-coat paint system using the highest quality VOC-compliant materials available. The project was delivered on time and at cost to the South Windsor Public School System.
